Japan’s Messaging Platform LINE to Launch NFT Marketplace

Japanese social media and messaging platform LINE has launched its Non-Fungible Token (NFT) marketplace dubbed LINE NFT which is set to officially go live on April 13.

The launch of the LINE NFT platform is in line with the company’s long-standing quest to be a major player in the blockchain industry, and with the marketplace, it will be able to provide a better alternative to all of its 90 million monthly users to participate in the growing NFT ecosystem.

Through LINE NFT, users can purchase digital art and trade them at will. Per the launch schedule revealed, the marketplace will feature a total of 100 collectibles at launch encompassing 7 genres and curated from a total of 17 content creators. These content platforms include but are not limited to the popular Yoshimoto Kogyo.

Thailand to Ban Use of Digital Assets as Payment from April

Thailand’s market regulator announced that the use of digit assets to pay for goods and services would be banned from April 1, according to a report from Reuters.

The new rule was issued following an earlier discussion between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bank of Thailand (BOT). The SEC said that the debate stated the need to regulate such activity by digital asset business operators as it could undermine and impact Thailand’s financial stability and the overall economy.

The SEC also announced that the new rules must be complied with by businesses that provide such crypto services within 30 days from the effective date.

Universal Music Label Acquires Ape NFT to Build Virtual Music Group

Universal Music Group has bought one of the popular non-fungible tokens (NFT) to build a virtual music group, according to Reuters.

Universal’s 10:22 pm label purchased Bored Ape #5537 for $360,817 – a female character, now known as Manager Noët All. The NFT will lead a group that was founded in November called Kingship.

Kingship only exists in digital form and it will also have a website and presence on messaging platform Discord. Future plans for Kingship include producing new music and hosting virtual performances in the metaverse.
